We now have a second blog just for project 3! Yeah! All your process will be scanned (if necessary) + posted here for review. Remember: an attempted animated/stop motion/interactive doodle with fair results will earn you the same mark as an excellent static (and linked) doodle. The reason I am encouraging this is because increasingly, employers will prefer (or demand) people with experience using animation and interactivity. You will probably have to start sometime, why not now?

The link to my web space; the video is added from the image simply because the video would not upload onto the space. Pity.

Lauren's Google Doodle
Lauren's Ball Point Pen Day!
This project really challenged my computer skills which are quite sub par, but that's what makes me so happy to have taken the project this far.
My only regret is not being able to add my music, which would have been the intro to "Travlin' All Alone" (just the intro) by Billie Holiday. This was my initial intention and I feel it works well even with the "old'timey" feel I had to adopt due to my video uncontrollably bouncing around.
This was a good, but sometimes painful, learning experience for sure :)

My Process for the Google Doodle.

I scanned my image using the scanner that I have at home. I then put that file into Illustrator to vector it and create my 4 scenes.
This is the vector that I got from live trace. I will create a layer underneath and create "color shapes".
I colored the image using the blob tool so that I can then replace colors using panels as the colored areas turn into shapes that are easier to edit.
After hours of coloring I finally created the first frame of my animation. I played around with the colors and I think this coloring is really good. It is dark, but it is not muddy or dirty. The colors here also have a very nice contrast that makes the eyes and the open door glow.
The four frames now complete. I am satisfied with the way that they look and I just need to put it into flash to create a sort of movie. Then I just need to create the web page.
E3

I decided to do my google doodle on the gaming event E3.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade fare for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment software association (ESA). It is used by many video game developers to show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware. PD-googl doodle.mov
This is my final Pillsbury Dough Boy Google Doodle.
I had a lot of fun making this. Originally it was going to be a stop-motion animation video, but I changed it to a flash video. I did work with both flash and stop-motion animation before, but I still had to go back and review how to do it because I forgot most of it. I actually took a lot more photos than I used and needed, which is alright. This version uploaded on the blog is not as good as my final copy on my computer and I don't know why. But I had to get it up, I'll play the on my computer for others to see during class.
I fixed it! this is the ultra good copy http://webspace.ocad.ca/%7Emt11hj/ (thanks Polina)
Google Doodle - Final
My Google doodle is by no means near perfection, nor is it animated like I had intended it to be, but with time constraints on my part this is the best I can do. In any case, it would appear that you have to zoom in to see things properly, otherwise the image slices make the entire thing look odd. Most of it has been image mapped so it'll take you to a new link. All of my process work can be found by clicking on Google.
So here's the final! Not quite done to perfection... in my mind at least. Didn't end up doing anything remotely spectacular with it, music or animation wise, but I did add a few things. The party hats, first of all, but I also lengthened the canvas as to allow for the tail of Jabba to be seen, and not cut off :) Here's my webspace -http://webspace.ocad.ca/~nr11gf/googledoodle.html

Ok so I shall upload my recent process work.
I demonstrated the first part of what I was doing in class, it was where I
was showing you guys the ink and water. I took screen shots of the video I am
working on and that is taking me ages.
I put it on the ground in the learning zone and put the camera above it and started working.
I added water first.
I tried using 3 different materials. Normal paper didn't work for sure because it obsorbed the water really quick.
The second one was a Bristol board, and it was too watery so that did not work as well.
Lastlty, I tried the same board I used in class when I was showing you guys.
I tried adding colours to each and different watery colour but that did not end up doing much and it ended up being a chaos.
As I mentioned when in class, it shall be google day about Art!
So my plan is to put the video backwards.
I ended up ruining the piece with my hands and adding different google colours and splash it on the word.
Here are some Screen-shots:

Wilfred's Google Doodle Final
http://webspace.ocad.ca/~wc11kh/
heres the link! now for the description!!
this is the google doodle for Japan's girls day celebration. I have chose to use the cherry blossom flowers with a girl in the kimono to represent this. This is because this day is usually happen when the cherry blossom blooms and the girls will dress in kimono for this celebration. As a improvement from my roughs, i have made the girl smaller, now just showing the head and making the hair L shaped so it is easier to define as the letter L. enjoy

For all of you cat lovers out there
I'm sooo happy to be done. :-) This project took the longest time to finish but YAY I got to practice Flash and now I can draw a cat in my sleep. :-)
Here is the last of process

This project gave me the opportunity to learn things, that to someone like me, I believed to be beyond my abilities; and while they still largely are, I've still learned something the I can be proud of knowing. As I stated in my last post, my chosen day is La Fête Nationale in France, what is known in English speaking countries as Bastille Day. The day officially marks the day when the commoners of France stormed the Bastille, a prison in which the nobility detained those of unfavourable political opinion. The French Revolution is one of, if not the most, important event in western history, but I love it as a subject the way I do mostly because of how the people of France totally forgot what the word overkill meant. This project also let me mess with what had always felt untouchable; the Google homepage. It felt like I was reworking the bible.
If my link that I attempted to make on the page doesn't work, and you want to get a better sense on the holiday; Wikipedia knows way more about it than me.
done.....
...the actual doodle.
SO I TOOK THE ADVICE on making the type more nicer looking. So..I made the words have the equalizer beat instead.
So the anniversary / doodle that it is : celebrating Electronic Music Day. Yes. The discovery of electronic music.
YAY the music goes with the equalizer.

finally :')
this has been one of those projects where I loved doing the planning/rough work but dreaded having to do the actual final product. well here I am, after struggling with flash/deamweaver for the afternoon I have actually managed to come up with something that sort of resembles a google doodle. having very limited previous experiences in flash and dreamweaver I was terrified to do this but I managed to finish with the animation and the link :)
(you have to zoom out to see all of it...don't know how that happened, ps: the link is the google search button)
so here it is: 88th anniversary of the royal winter fair

Vintage Film Day Google Doodle
Super link!!!
Okay, so the link isn't all that super. For some reason the Flash file will not show up within the webspace page although it recognizes that there is something there if you bring the mouse over to the blank area where it should be. I've fought for hours with Dreamweaver, Fetch and even the animation itself to no avail. It shows up and runs perfectly within the Dreamweaver file and I am highly irritated with this. Clearly I must be missing something within the ungodly amount of coding which I cannot decipher. I suppose it can be viewed in class from my computer? For a first shot at Flash and Dreamweaver I think it's okay... I tried and stuff.

Coded... in Morse!
Here is my final post! finally after a couple of stressful hours trying to actually get my google up on the site. I made a few small but important changes that ended up making my project that much better, including the white background that kept the consistency between the animation and background, as well as changing the colours of each letter phrase to make it more convincing. The added button animation is a nice touch and maybe took me a little longer than expected to figure out with all the coding XD but it all works out! so "HEAR" you go!... haha

final post for burton
ok... so i did a bunch of small changes since my previous post that annoyed me:
here is the link to my webspace: Google celebrates Burton
- making the guy at the "G" blink faster
- longer gaps between each movement (so its not too busy)
- its looped forever (so people don't go "i blinked..wtf just happened?")

Earth Day!
Final Post
As one of my preliminary sketches; this concept worked out quite well and I am pleased with the result. I was just sketching away for my rough work and this was just one of those ideas that just hits you in the face, and you say 'Genius!’ . Also when the class thought the idea was also strong it convinced me that this idea was the one. Working through it I had problems here and there with the coding and tweening, but I compromised in places and worked through. Basically within the doodle it is a smoggy, dirty world, which then transformed into a beautiful nature scene. The fun thing is that the smokestack turns into the trunk of the tree, showing that everything is connected. In a whole this piece shows that it is not too late keep the earth clean and anyone can make a difference. The interactive portion of the animation comes in when you mouse over the leaves they will rustle in the wind and if you click on them they will fall, to make them grow again just mouse over the fallen leaf. From the last time everyone has seen it I added another type of leaf and fixed the falling animations. Also, I took out the smaller smokestack and faded the background to white. In the end I like how it came out and am pleased with my first stab at interactivity, I find myself just sitting in my room clicking the leafs when I was testing it. Haha
