We now have a second blog just for project 3! Yeah! All your process will be scanned (if necessary) + posted here for review. Remember: an attempted animated/stop motion/interactive doodle with fair results will earn you the same mark as an excellent static (and linked) doodle. The reason I am encouraging this is because increasingly, employers will prefer (or demand) people with experience using animation and interactivity. You will probably have to start sometime, why not now?

unfinished

So I changed the "g"s hat into an almost-grey blue to stand out from the floor and blend in with the colour scheme. The eyes of the first "o" have red gradients on to separate from the white body. And there's more things going on :D More blinking eyes, the other "o" slightly rolling and the "e" goes lalala with its tongues.
The image links to Tim Burton's official site which I used as reference for the characters, drawing style and background. Hope you guys like it! ^^

Almost Done
Check it out at my web space: http://webspace.ocad.ca/~ag11kd/

First Test
For BallPoint pen day this was a short test I did where I took a bunch of photos which will ultimately be the animation. If I flip through them in my camera they look pretty nice for a test but this computerized element is totally killing me I'm not gonna lie.
Not done but sooooo close

I don't think I can look at cats anymore. Drawing the same cat over 17 times got kindda repetitive and boring. Now I have to color all of them in and then I'm going to be done!!!! YAY! I'm thinking of coloring the cat in with gray stripes because it would look nice with the color of the yarn ball.
process
Process..
I will first start off as just the plain equilzer, then the words google will comes up.
It's only if you HOVER over the image, will the image start to move and the equilzer will start to move.
The green "beat" will start to rise up and down, likewise to the the music equalizer when music plays.
I'm not that good with technical animation stuff, but I would have loved it if the image beat would go to ANY music your computer plays. That would be cool.
Bu anyways that is my final google doodle idea, and now the stop motion will be in process.
The whole point of the music equalizer is to show what's behind the making of music and how much high technology can create different music. I just wanted to create a google doodle that played with the idea of music, so why not incoprate it into the doodle itself? Music is universal and it never sleeps. The music bars that keep moving will show the constant sound that music makes and how music is so alive.
Vanessas Google Doodle
google doodle by vanessamichiels, made at DoInk.com
so this is one of the peices i have going on so far, at the end i have a few ideas of how it will finish and how i will clean it up a bit. still, going with my birthday theme for googles thirteenth birthday anniversairy this year i played around with some drawings of cakes and things like that. I still may develop some of the drawings and do a linked page depending if it turns out more effective than this one and cleaner. i am stil thinking of putting the letters google onto the balloons but i am not sure if the colours are iconic enough that i could just place them in at the end or not at all.
Week 3! Christmas Google Doodle
move burton move!

Unfortunately, I think I overdid the details on the illustration that my expected animation is just impossible.
So far, colour is done on the illustration (and yes I added a background). The floor and wall is copied from Tim Burton's official site.
I also wanted the "g" to interact the search box. I thought that could somehow make up for being static.
The only animation I could think of would be moving facial features. Like blinking eyes, opening/closing mouths, etc. So I tried that in gif.

I'm still learning how to animate this (freakishly sophisticated!!) image with flash. Or should I just stop with the animation and stay with static illustration?

I SEE CATS

Still in a rough form
Week 2

Week 2
A. This banner features a stylized G which resonates with the folksy and "woody" village feel of the Hobbit town. A Hobbit dwelling, Bilbo's house, takes up the O space. Gandalf watches the door from a distance, either waiting or approaching, a pipe in his mouth. A G and L are stylized in a wooden/country way to resonate with the village in the book. A sleeping dragon adds interest to the image and an aesthetically pleasing pattern that arises in the smoke that comes from his nose. I decided not to color this picture because it will interfere with scanning, tracing and referencing (encase I change my mind about the color). Earth toned colors are a second choice, will first see how the image looks in illustrator with the Google colors shown under the picture in the square. Will use very washed out colors to show off line work.
B. The door pictured here will appear over the other door image at 5s, giving the illusion of door opening with Bilbo's silhouette at the entrance.
C. Two seconds later the eye here will overlap the closed eye on the dragon showing that the opening of the door has awoken him.
Week 1
This first image is my beginning process work. Step 1: I measured the Google logo on my screen to get an idea of the ratio between height and width. I also looked at other Google doodles. Step 2: I made a list of themes I want to do, or find interesting. Step 3.5: I drew these themes out on a piece of paper and I decided which one I wanted. I chose to do mine on "Lord of the Rings" and then "The Hobbit."
A. Salvador Dali's Birthday: A portrait of Salvador Dali takes the position of the O's. Other letters are either supported by "Dali crotches" or carry melting clocks.
B. Halloween theme: Two Pumpkins look at each other in the place of the O's. Bats hang from the G, the L is a hanging platform and the E is a monster. Potential for animation: The lights in the pumpkin's eyes flickers on in off.
C. Rocky Horror Picture Shoe Anniversary: The classic lips take the place of the O's, the rest of the letters are rendered with lipstick which is illustrated beside the E.
D. Lord of the Rings Anniversary: Gandalf walks towards the Baggin's home which takes the place of the O's.
E. Treasure Island Anniversary: Skull with map in background takes place of O's. Pirate ship takes place of L.
F. Edward Scissorhands Anniversary: Eduard Scissorhands stands in L space, trimmed hedges take space of Os. Spiders on the other letters, girl wrapped around the G. Potential for animation: Hedges turn from squares to dog and cat kissing.
G. Mario Anniversary: Mario takes place of Os. Letters rendered in Mario font. Potential for animation: the letters change color.
H. John Lennon: Eyes take place of Os. Peace symbolism in other objects. Potential for animation: The eyes blink and flower rotates.

Google Doodle ~ Process work
In place of the Os in Google, I decided to place a constellation there. The idea for this one is to have the constellations transition from one to the other so that the Google doodle doesn't focus on just one constellation, but many. I also intend on making it twinkle, simulating a night sky.
Again, in place of the Os, I decided to put an illustration there instead. What I had in mind for this one is to make a Google doodle featuring a different constellation per day, making it a mini series of Google doodles. It won't be a static image though so there will be some animation involved.
Similar to idea #5 with the twinkling stars, but this time I used different constellations in place of every letter that forms Google. Again, simple animation featuring a night sky.
This is my first idea, which was to have the standard typeface used for Google, but also make it a constellation as well. Again, night sky featuring a simple animation with twinkling stars.
Wilfred's google doodle refined rough
google doodle process

For this week I decided to go ahead with the sketch I had liked the best out of my initial 10. This sketch is to become an animated google doodle including a horse jumping through a jump replacing the first ‘o’ in google. I felt that this would be a good way to represent the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair since most people who know about this event is aware of this infamous cross country jump always included in the Royal Horse Show. It basically involves jumping through a giant bush.
My next step is to take all of what I have worked on and researched and somehow make it move :)

tim burton process work
So I still can't decide which one to do so I did both this week..
Number 1: Monsters in the closet

The other image is the rough storyboard for this idea. Basically it starts with a door. Then a character opens it followed by the rest. As the "e" curls to form the letter, "g" slams the door making "e" look like that and ending the animation.
Number 2: Stainboy

Meet the star of this idea, Stainboy! Tim Burton's original character and the main star of his webisodes with Flinch Studio. He is also the one in charge of touring everyone in Burton's official website. So I thought that he would be the perfect solo character to show Tim Burton's style.
My plan for this idea would be animated. I attempted to make one for this week using DOink. It would be the original Google logo at the beginning. Then Stainboy would push it away, leaving stain on the blank ground. Then the stain grows to form Google and eventually comes to life, staring at Stainboy.
For both my concepts, I take the same approach. Tim Burton is not just a film maker, he's an artist. His illustration style is the one that drove people into his crazy world. And I want to show that. I want to show the dark yet whimsical creatures as a sample of his artistic vision. So I hope that by using the right characters and rendering them as close as Tim Burton would, I would be able to do justice.

Rationale for "Ballpoint Pen Day" June 10th
Alex's Google doodlz V2!
So for my google doodles i decided to go with the earth day themed one that has the smokestacks morphing into trees. I chose this one because it would definitely be a complex and meaningful animation because of how the opposites morph into each other. It shows that it is not too late to stop global warming and we can make a better, cleaner world for ourselves. I arranged the composition around the google logo so that one tree is the L and the other forms the side part of the G, then i put a cloud over the smaller tree to balance everything. So for my roughs i just played around with different types of stylized trees because i don't want realism. Also, the rest of the google logo will remain the same for brand recognition. For the animation part the i broke it down into steps:
1- the smoke blows away
2- the smokestacks start to sprout branches
3- the bg colour is changing to a blue
4- the buildings turn into green hills
5- pretty clouds roll in and birds fly by
6- then the trees will sprout leaves in different shapes and sizes
Also I am working on a special interactive segment of animation, it’s a surprise :P

(EVERYTHING WILL BE STOP MOTION)
IDEA #1 - You know thoes music bars that play the bass of the beat of the song? I wanted to create a google doodle out of it by making hte beats go up and down automatically when you go on the site. Colors: red green yellow
