Bastille Day near finish

For my final idea, I essentially settled on an idea I actually haven't showed yet. The event my doodle is based on is July 14th, Bastille Day in France. Bastille Day is the equivalent of the Canadian holiday of Canada Day, or the American Independence Day, in which it celebrates the birth of the nation. The subject matter of my picture is based on a Eugene Delacroix's "Liberty leading the people", with the letters of the word substituting the main figures of the painting. At this point, I have work yet to do on the background, in which I have placed a faded crowd of rowdy people toting guns and swords, but it has faded through both the scan process and because the colours used should be a darker shade. Also the final E is in dire need of correction, as i attempted to clothe it but it however appears to be wielding an axe or something that I definitely did not intend it to look like.

  1. David, this is amazing. Beautiful colours and very clean rendering! It is very recognizable with both the image of "Liberty leading the people" and with the Google logo. Nice work sir.
