I am posting week one here, because I had not had the chance to share my ideas last week. The descriptions of the ideas and other important information is written below the images and correlates with the letter described.
This first image is my beginning process work. Step 1: I measured the Google logo on my screen to get an idea of the ratio between height and width. I also looked at other Google doodles. Step 2: I made a list of themes I want to do, or find interesting. Step 3.5: I drew these themes out on a piece of paper and I decided which one I wanted. I chose to do mine on "Lord of the Rings" and then "The Hobbit."
A. Salvador Dali's Birthday: A portrait of Salvador Dali takes the position of the O's. Other letters are either supported by "Dali crotches" or carry melting clocks.
B. Halloween theme: Two Pumpkins look at each other in the place of the O's. Bats hang from the G, the L is a hanging platform and the E is a monster. Potential for animation: The lights in the pumpkin's eyes flickers on in off.
C. Rocky Horror Picture Shoe Anniversary: The classic lips take the place of the O's, the rest of the letters are rendered with lipstick which is illustrated beside the E.
D. Lord of the Rings Anniversary: Gandalf walks towards the Baggin's home which takes the place of the O's.
E. Treasure Island Anniversary: Skull with map in background takes place of O's. Pirate ship takes place of L.
F. Edward Scissorhands Anniversary: Eduard Scissorhands stands in L space, trimmed hedges take space of Os. Spiders on the other letters, girl wrapped around the G. Potential for animation: Hedges turn from squares to dog and cat kissing.
G. Mario Anniversary: Mario takes place of Os. Letters rendered in Mario font. Potential for animation: the letters change color.
H. John Lennon: Eyes take place of Os. Peace symbolism in other objects. Potential for animation: The eyes blink and flower rotates.
